Authorities have identified a driver who died following a crash early Friday morning in Evesham Township, according to officials.
Law enforcement reported that the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on March 20, 2026. An Evesham Township police officer, identified as Officer Robert Haynes, was operating a marked patrol vehicle when he attempted to initiate a traffic stop involving a Ford Mustang along Route 73 near Greentree Road in the Marlton section of the township.
According to officials, as the situation unfolded, the Mustang continued along the roadway. Shortly afterward, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer near the intersection of Route 73 and Lincoln Drive.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Mustang, identified as 22-year-old Joseph J. Meadowcroft of Evesham, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials emphasized that the police vehicle was not involved in the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, according to initial reports.
