Authorities in Charlotte are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening during a gathering, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers were called to Hucks Road around 7:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found a large group of individuals at the location. One person was located behind a home and was later confirmed deceased.
Officials identified the victim as 20-year-old Richard Thomas.
Police said several other individuals were injured during the incident. Authorities noted that those individuals are expected to recover.
Homicide investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those involved. The investigation remains active, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
