Authorities in Ohio are investigating a motorcycle crash that resulted in the decease of a 63-year-old man in Tuscarawas County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the crash around 5:05 p.m. Saturday on State Route 800 near Froman Hill Road in Fairfield Township.

Investigators said the man, identified as Jack Lineberry, was traveling southbound on a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he approached a vehicle slowing to turn. Authorities reported that he attempted to avoid a collision, left the roadway, and struck a guardrail.

Emergency responders transported him by helicopter to Summa Health Akron Campus for treatment. Officials later confirmed that he died from his injuries early Sunday morning.

Preliminary findings indicate that impairment and the absence of a helmet may have been contributing factors, according to investigators.

The crash remains under active investigation as authorities continue to review the circumstances.
