A Tuesday afternoon crash in Chilton County has resulted in the loss of a Plantersville resident, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. along Alabama 22, roughly nine miles west of Clanton. Emergency crews responded after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck.
Authorities identified the driver as 63-year-old Donald R. Wright. According to investigators, early findings suggest that the vehicle left the roadway before striking roadside objects and coming to rest.
Wright was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Officials confirmed that he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are currently investigating what may have led to the vehicle leaving the roadway. At this stage, officials have not confirmed any contributing factors, as the case remains under active review.
The crash led to a temporary impact on traffic in the area as emergency responders worked to manage the scene and begin their investigation.
Authorities are continuing to gather information and are encouraging anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the incident to contact law enforcement.
Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
