Connecticut State Police report that a Brooklyn man died early Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash on Route 44 in Pomfret. Authorities say the crash occurred at approximately 1:11 a.m. near the intersection of Putnam Road and Allen Road. Troopers from Troop D responded to the scene.

According to police, 39-year-old William Horton Enright was driving eastbound on Route 44 when he failed to navigate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Emergency responders pronounced Enright dead at the scene. Police confirmed that the vehicle’s airbag deployed and that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

State police noted that conditions contributing to the accident are still under investigation. No additional passengers were involved.
