Authorities in Alamo are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a local military veteran early Friday morning.

According to the Alamo Police Department, the victim has been identified as 43-year-old Ismael Alemán. Officials said Alemán, who was known in the community for his military service, died after being struck by a vehicle while walking in the area.

Police reported that the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Frontage Road, near the Alamo Rec and RV Park. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but Alemán was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

Investigators say the driver involved in the collision did not stop to assist and left the area immediately after the incident. Authorities are now working to locate the vehicle believed to be connected to the crash.

According to police, the vehicle being sought is described as a gray or silver Nissan Rogue. Investigators believe the SUV may have noticeable damage to the front-right bumper area, as well as a broken passenger-side mirror.

Detectives are reviewing evidence and canvassing the surrounding area for additional information that may help identify the driver. As part of the investigation, officers are asking residents and nearby businesses to review any surveillance footage that may have captured activity along West Frontage Road.

Authorities specifically asked anyone in the area to check security camera recordings from approximately 3:15 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. on Friday, when the crash is believed to have occurred. Video footage from nearby homes, businesses, or traffic cameras could play an important role in helping investigators track down the vehicle.

Police are also encouraging community members to report any vehicles that match the description or appear to have recently undergone repairs to the front-right portion of the vehicle. Officials say public cooperation is often a key factor in solving hit-and-run cases. Even small details or tips can help investigators piece together what happened and identify the person responsible.

The Alamo Police Department is urging anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle to contact investigators. As the investigation continues, the case has raised concerns about pedestrian safety and the responsibilities drivers have after a crash.

What role can communities play in helping authorities solve hit-and-run cases and making local roads safer for everyone?
