Authorities say a man from Drain has died following a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near Yoncalla.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, emergency dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call shortly after 2:45 p.m. on March 6 reporting a crash in the 10000 block of Elkhead Road. Officials said the incident was first discovered by a delivery driver who notified a nearby homeowner, prompting the emergency call.

Deputies, along with firefighters and emergency medical personnel, responded to the location. When the first deputy arrived, authorities found a white 2009 Kia Rio in a field approximately 200 feet from the roadway.

Investigators identified the driver as Nicholas Rex Snyder, 33, of Drain, Oregon. Officials said he was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle left the roadway are still under investigation. Law enforcement officials are asking anyone who may have information about the crash or events leading up to it to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office also noted that multiple agencies assisted during the response, including North Douglas Fire & EMS, the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Lougheads Towing.

Authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

As the investigation continues, officials say they are working to determine the factors that may have contributed to the crash.
