Authorities in Fort Wayne have identified the man who died following a residential fire early Saturday morning.

According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, the victim has been identified as 65-year-old Timothy Webb of Fort Wayne. Officials confirmed that his decease has been ruled accidental.

The fire was reported shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday in the 2900 block of Cambridge Boulevard. Fire crews from the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the scene and immediately began working to control the flames while searching the home for anyone inside.

During their search, firefighters located Webb inside the residence. Crews attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene, authorities said.

Emergency responders worked for several hours to secure the area and ensure the fire was fully extinguished. Officials have not yet released additional details about what may have led to the incident.

Investigators say the cause of the fire remains under review. Fire officials and investigators are continuing to examine the scene and gather information to determine how the blaze started.

Residential fires, particularly those occurring overnight, can pose significant risks because they may go unnoticed while residents are sleeping. Fire officials frequently encourage households to maintain working smoke alarms and practice fire safety measures as a precaution.

Authorities say additional information may be released once the investigation is complete.

Community members who may have information related to the incident are encouraged to contact local authorities.

As investigators continue working to determine the origin of the fire, what steps can communities take to improve home fire safety and prevent similar tragedies?
