The Connecticut State Police report that an 87-year-old Greenwich man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday evening near New Canaan.
Troopers said dispatchers received 911 calls around 6:00 p.m. reporting a rollover on Route 15 south near the Exit 14 rest area. Authorities arrived to find the vehicle overturned.
Preliminary investigation indicates a Subaru Outback, driven by Gary Glenn Berner, struck a crash attenuator in the southbound rest area before rolling onto its roof. Emergency responders extricated Berner from the vehicle and administered CPR, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The New Canaan Fire Department and New Canaan Police Department assisted at the scene, while the state Department of Transportation helped manage traffic in the area.
State police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Connecticut State Police Troop G.
Authorities emphasize the investigation is ongoing and ask for public cooperation to help determine the cause of the crash.
