Authorities in Chilliwack are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning on Mellard Avenue, which resulted in passing of one and another injured.
The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Kristopher Benson, a resident of Chilliwack. The other man involved was transported to a hospital and remains in stable condition, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
Police received reports of the shooting at approximately 8:40 a.m. PT, prompting an immediate response from the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. IHIT assumed responsibility for the investigation shortly after.
Investigators described the incident as “targeted and isolated” but have not released a confirmed motive. Homicide detectives are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact IHIT to assist with the investigation.
