Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Saturday night in Phoenix. According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:10 p.m. to the area near 16th Street and Pinchot Avenue following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located a man with serious injuries. The victim, later identified as 74-year-old Manuel Porfido Madril, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police reported that the driver remained at the scene following the incident. Authorities indicated that impairment is not believed to have been a factor. Preliminary information suggests that Madril was crossing 16th Street mid-block when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, and a charging decision will be made once authorities have reviewed all evidence.
