The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who died in a crash Thursday evening in Ravenel. According to the coroner’s office, 64-year-old Michael Goheen of Ravenel was killed in a single-vehicle collision on February 12. Officials said he died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of Hyde Park Road. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash happened when the motorcycle struck a deer that had entered the roadway.
Deputies responded to the scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have not released additional details about the events leading up to the crash.
Law enforcement officials remind motorists to remain alert for wildlife, particularly during evening hours when visibility is reduced and animals are more active near roadways.
