Clarence Lemons – The District of Columbia community is mourning after a multi-vehicle crash on DC-295 in southeast Washington, D.C., claimed the life of a motorcyclist last week.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the fatal incident occurred on Thursday, January 22, at approximately 4:16 p.m., on southbound DC-295 just before exit 2B. Officers from MPD’s Seventh District responded quickly to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and multiple vehicles.
Investigators say the motorcyclist, riding a 2009 Honda CBR 1000RR, was traveling southbound when he struck the rear bumper of a black 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman while moving between lanes. The impact caused the rider to fall off the motorcycle. A secondary collision occurred when the motorcycle then made contact with the rear bumper of a black 2015 Ford Edge. The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, February 6, 2026, one day after the crash. He has been identified as 38-year-old Clarence Lemons. Police noted that he did not have a fixed address.
The crash remains under active investigation by MPD’s Major Crash Investigations Unit. Authorities are reviewing all circumstances surrounding the collision, including vehicle speed and lane activity, and have not released information regarding other potential contributing factors. No charges or citations have been announced as the investigation continues.
