TERRY HARRIS, GLENDALE, AZ – Police have released the identity of a man who died following a traffic collision in Glendale last week, as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities also say charges may be filed in connection with the crash.
According to the Glendale Police Department, emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 6:30 a.m. on January 23 to the intersection of 51st Avenue and Peoria Avenue after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash. When first responders arrived, they found that two passenger vehicles had been involved in a collision at the intersection.
Police said one of the vehicles, a Chrysler sedan, was traveling east along Peoria Avenue at the time of the incident. The other vehicle, a Ford SUV, was attempting to make a left turn onto 51st Avenue. Investigators believe both vehicles entered the intersection against a traffic signal, which contributed to the crash.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 65-year-old Terry Harris, was transported to a nearby hospital following the collision. Despite medical care, he later died from his injuries. Authorities have notified Harris’s family, and officials extended their condolences as the investigation continues.
The driver of the Chrysler was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said that individual survived and was later released. Investigators have not yet announced specific charges but confirmed that the case remains active and under review.
Glendale police said they are examining several factors as part of the investigation, including traffic signals, vehicle movement, and other conditions at the time of the crash. Officials are also reviewing whether additional elements may have played a role, though no final determinations have been made.
As with all serious collisions, investigators are working to gather evidence from the scene, including vehicle data and witness statements, to fully understand what happened. Police emphasized that charges, if any, will be determined once the investigation is complete and all information has been evaluated.
The crash caused temporary traffic disruptions in the area as crews worked to clear the roadway and ensure the intersection was safe for drivers. Motorists were advised to use caution while traveling through the area during the response.
Police are reminding drivers of the importance of obeying traffic signals and remaining alert at intersections, especially during early morning hours when visibility and reaction times may be reduced.
No additional details have been released at this time. Authorities say updates will be shared if more information becomes available. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant information is encouraged to contact the Glendale Police Department through official channels.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the full sequence of events and ensure accountability where appropriate.
