Eric Wilburn, MACON, Ga. — Authorities in Bibb County are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday night along Jeffersonville Road in Macon. The incident resulted in the death of one individual and led to the arrest of another, according to information released by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Purnell Drive. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the area after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle while walking along the roadway. Emergency responders arrived soon afterward to assist.
The pedestrian was identified as 36-year-old Eric Wilburn. Officials confirmed that he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Bibb County Coroner’s Office later notified Wilburn’s family of the incident. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 39-year-old Daniel Hicks, remained at the scene following the incident.
